Day 101 of 365

Jacksonville harbor in fog

Jacksonville harbor in fog

The morning view of the harbor from our hotel room.
Day promised lots of rain but by the time we got to Palm Bay, the skies cleared to confirm Florida’s claim to the sunshine state moniker.

Now for a relaxed visit with the brother-in-law & sister-in-law.

Day 100 0f 365

Courthouse

Courthouse

This is the United States Courthouse in Richmond. A cold, windy day – not warm enough yet. The folks here are friendly – a buncha good mornings & smiles. Nice.

Back on the road. Travel now is easier – not so much road damage due to ice & snow. Straight line highways heading South. Dinner stop at a country Inn type of place. Knick knacks in the shop, eats in the back. Very popular.

Looking for an overnighter, ended up in Jacksonville, FL. We pulled in at midnight with a
convention going on. Lots of beer.

The minute we stepped out of the car, the warm tropical breezes hit us full in the face.
Yahoooooo!

The second image for today is the view of the harbor from our hotel room.

Tomorrow, Palm Bay & some rest.

Day 99 of 365

Philly

Philly

The Union League of Philadelphia. The “League” was founded to suppress the rebellion of the
American Civil War and to preserve the Union. All in all, some very interesting architecture here.

Spent the better part of the day exploring Philly. A late breakfast, then checked out the architecture. Cassandra & Mike got to a legal wall & painted a quick figure while we explored a local park.

Back on the road South & a night time tour of Washington. Didn’t get to see the White House – it was kinda barricaded away from public access. Down, down, stopping at Richmond, Virginia for the night. Elegant dining at an Olive Garden – not the same as I remember from when they were plentiful in Ottawa.

Day 97 0f 365

Monkeyshines

Monkeyshines

Getting a head start on next week’s assignment for lighting class as I will be missing it.
Repro-graphics is the theme, so reproduced this canvas by Cassandra. It hangs in the music room to inspire the monkeyshines.

The lighting course started off a bit slow, but exposure to all the aspects of studio
lighting should come in handy down the road should I ever pursue any of the material covered and go on to become a world renowned photographer pursued by the rich and famous to have their portraits done or sent on luxury assignments to far reaching exotic locales by an overly generous magazine.  😉

Roof line

Roof line

Third day in a row of snow.

I’m back to my earlier estimation of winter – it’s long, tedious, bleak, snow filled, cold, whine, whine, …

That’s it – I’m going someplace warm.

Some isolated spots get sun and, due to the physics of absorption, actually give the impression of spring like climes.
