Day 342 of 365

This is arguably Ottawa’s most famous (at least most well known) tree – mostly due to the Halloween type branches that stand out in relief against the skyline.
It stands all by itself in the middle of a field at Baseline Rd. & Fisher (by the Experimental Farm) where thousands of cars pass every day.

Bird leaf

Bird leaf

I think this bird like creature came from the Magnolia tree in the garden. Sitting on a translucent light table lit from beneath by a small flash.

Gotta love the ease with which the Nikon flash can be remotely adjusted from the camera – a little trick picked up in lighting class.

The other in-laws & us.

The other in-laws & us.

Time to head home. Leaving sun & no snow & a good visit with family.
There was a tight pack and a quasi schedule so blogging had to wait for eventual arrival.

This is the other in-law gang in sunny FL & us on our way.

First stop – Florence SC. On the way a side tour through some forested land in GA. A bit spooky as the sun was setting and there was no other traffic – unusual for these parts – but we were quite a bit off road.

Rooster

Rooster

Tuesday is lighting class at Algonquin for the next while. Had to forgo camera club as it’s on the same night. Lighting & printing are my 2 main stumbling blocks, so this is it until April.

After a couple of intro remarks & studio familiarization, we shot the first studio type still life. Simple, no reflections, just get used to the process.
