Day 98 of 365

Dead tree

Dead tree

Along the road to the Thousand Islands bridge.

Crossed over & headed South to Philadelphia.

It took a long, dark, windy, snow laden & rainy drive down 81 to hit Philly right in the cheese at 1 A.M
No snow here.  😉

Think I’ll keep going.

Day 96 of 365

Roof line

Roof line

Third day in a row of snow.

I’m back to my earlier estimation of winter – it’s long, tedious, bleak, snow filled, cold, whine, whine, …

That’s it – I’m going someplace warm.

Some isolated spots get sun and, due to the physics of absorption, actually give the impression of spring like climes.

Day 83 of 365

IP Bridge in snow

IP Bridge in snow

One of the snowiest days this winter. Ranged from heavy to moderate in intensity, but steady from early morning until after midnight. Total accumulation? I’m guessing 25-30 cm. (Update when available.)

Crossing the Interprovincial (Royal Alexandra) Bridge toward Gatineau (Hull), I shot this through the front window. Afternoon traffic was light as, I’m sure, many folks decided to stay home & wait it out. It was, after all, a Friday.

Day 64 of 365

Rideau Falls

Rideau Falls

An early morning cruise along the  Ottawa River on the Gatineau side. The Rideau Falls, emptying into the Ottawa River, mark the end of the Rideau canal system at the Ottawa end. A hike into a park area and tripod mounted long lens got me close to the water. Good ol’ cattails included.

The falls are divided by Green Island (not seen here). The falls were named by the early French for their resemblance to a curtain (rideau en Français). This is one curtain of the falls. The Rideau River was later named after the falls.
